Whose idea was it to have a letter “s” in the word lisp?

Why is it so hard to remember the spelling of “mnemonic”?
Why isn’t phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
Why has the word “monosyllabic” got five syllables?
And I’ll leave you with this thought ” Show me a man who has both feet on the ground and I’ll show you a man who can’t put his trousers on”.
